At Mekeel, we emphasize the importance of participation in the visual arts, drama, and music. Through introductory level courses to advanced learning opportunities for those with higher aptitude or interest in the arts, students learn individual accountability as well as cooperative learning in order to pursue excellence in artistic interpretation. We believe in the importance of flexibility and offer instruction that meets the needs of a student's individuality. During these studies, students are trained in performance practices and artistic techniques, critical thinking, self-evaluation, visual analysis, creativity, and emotional expression. We encourage our students to showcase their gifts and talents for the glory of God throughout area and regional art exhibits, NYSSMA competitions, as well as performances within the school and community.
